East & Gulf Coast Ports Negotiations Resume Today

stock image of shipping containers at seaJanuary 7, 2025 | The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) are set to resume formal negotiations today (January 7) for the first time since mid-November regarding their labor contract. The current contract expires on January 15.

In October, both sides reached a temporary agreement for a tentative 62 percent wage increase and short-term contract extension, but agreements regarding automation and technology remain unresolved.

The Toy Association™ continues be active in a coalition of federal, state, and local trade associations, urging the incoming administration to work with both parties to negotiate a deal as quickly as possible. The Association will keep members updated with any developments.
