Electronic Products on the Agenda for EU Environment Conference in Washington

May 9, 2016 | On June 3^rd, Europe’s Commerce Department will host its annual EU Environment Conference at the U.S. Department of Commerce building  in Washington, D.C. Registration is still open for toy industry professionals who do business in Europe. Registration information can be found here.

A main focus of the conference will be the European Union’s (EU) regulatory landscape for electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers and medical device companies.  Topics will include updates to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive and the EU’s plan for its Circular Economy proposals. 

“U.S. electric toy makers and exporters selling electrical and electronic equipment to the EU will certainly benefit from attending, as the conference’s directives affect them,” said Robert Straetz, Senior International Trade Specialist in the Office of the European Union. “Four new substances being added to RoHS will be reviewed, in addition to several other impactful updates.”

Featured speakers include Steve Andrews, the United Kingdom’s Head of the Product Regulation & Producer Responsibility Unit, Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and Fern Abrams, Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Association Connecting Electronics Industry and Government Relations (IPC).
