The Fight Against Counterfeits

The fight against counterfeit toys continues to be a top priority issue for The Toy Association.

Our actions have contributed to important progress, including the introduction of legislation placing clear requirements on marketplaces and sellers; the publication of a Department of Homeland Security Report echoing many of our proposed solutions; and better collaboration with major online marketplaces. The Toy Association continues to work with federal officials to drive support of Intellectual Property (IP) protection bills, like the SHOP SAFE Act and INFORM Consumers Act. Recently, The Toy Association publicly supported the inclusion of both bills in the America Competes in Manufacturing, Pre-Eminence in Technology, and Economic Strength Act (America Competes Act).

The Toy Association also educates consumers at PlaySafe.org, on social media, and through ongoing media appearances on the dangers of counterfeit toys and how to avoid inadvertently purchasing them.

The Toy Association remains a member of the Buy Safe America Coalition, which represents a diverse group of responsible retailers, consumer groups, manufacturers, intellectual property advocates, and law enforcement officials who support efforts at all levels of government to protect consumers and communities from the sale of counterfeit and stolen goods.

The Toy Association offers members white papers on Intellectual Property Protection. Check out the links below to learn more:
