The Toy Association Invites Toymakers to Submit Toys & Games Targeting Ages 16+
November 16, 2020 | Are you looking to have your toys and games featured on the shelves of Spencer’s? Here is your chance; On December 16, The Toy Association will host a virtual product preview day for toymakers not currently selling to the retailer to pitch their playthings. The deadline to apply is Sunday, November 22 at 5 p.m. (Eastern). Priority will be given to Toy Association members.
With a core demographic of shoppers ages 16+, Spencer’s buying team is looking to meet with toy companies across a select range of product categories including: adult games, board games, drinking games, impulse toys, prank & novelty joke toys, puzzles, and more. The retailer is also seeking products from minority-owned businesses.
“Toys and games aren’t just for kids, and this is a great opportunity for toymakers that are specifically targeting that ‘kidult’ audience,” said Marian Bossard, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association. “The Toy Association looks forward to providing our members with similar opportunities to tap into new markets frequented by their audiences.”
The submission period will close November 22, at which time Spencer’s buyers will review all applicants. Selected companies will then be notified by The Toy Association the week of December 7 and will be required to pay a $500 participation fee. A live Zoom Q&A will be held on December 14 for chosen applicants, which will focus on “Perfecting Your Pitch.” Preview sessions will take place via Zoom on December 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern).
The Toy Association will additional virtual product preview days for toymakers to meet with buyers from Family Dollar and Urban Outfitters throughout December. Previously held previews presented opportunities to connect with Target, TRU Canada, and Meijer buying teams.
