Target Returns to Meet with New Toy Sellers in Second Preview
March 29, 2021 | The Toy Association is once again teaming up with Target for a virtual private preview on May 4 that will allow toymakers to showcase their innovative toys and games to Target buyers. The application deadline for this exclusive opportunity is Wednesday, April 7 at 5 p.m. (Eastern).
“This latest private preview builds on the overall success we’ve had in hosting these events for the toy community,” said Tim Knock, director of event marketing at The Toy Association. “Getting your foot in the door is half the battle when it comes to retail, and pandemic-related travel restrictions have only further hindered in-person opportunities to forge these connections. By continuing to partner with powerhouse retailers like Target, The Toy Association remains committed to helping the toy community make the critical business connections they need to push ahead.”
Target buyers are specifically looking for products centered around sensory activities and toys (i.e.: fidgets) and products that are sustainable/good for the earth. Target is also looking to explore opportunities with BIPOC- and female-owned businesses.
This is an open call for any toy company not currently selling to Target. Sellers who previously applied for the Target private preview in October 2020 will not be reconsidered.
Once the submission period closes on April 7, Target will review all applicants. Selected companies will be notified by The Toy Association by April 19 and will be required to pay a participation fee. If multiple products are chosen by the retailer for separate meetings, multiple participation fees will apply. A live Zoom pitch prep session will be hosted by Target and The Toy Association on April 12 ahead of the preview event on May 4.
To date, The Toy Association has connected hundreds of toymakers with leading retailers including ALDI, Claire’s, Family Dollar, Meijer, QxN, Spencer’s, Target, TRU Canada, and Urban Outfitters.
