Just in Time for Memorial Day Weekend, The Genius of Play Launches ‘Summer Playbook’

An On-The-Go Digital Guide to Play Ideas and Activities

May 23, 2022 | With summer presenting families with the perfect opportunity to explore and try new activities together, The Genius of Play, The Toy Association’s nonprofit initiative dedicated to helping parents raise healthy and happy kids through play, today announced the launch of its digital “Summer Playbook” full of fun activities to keep kids occupied and learning all summer long.

“Whether staying close to home or traveling, families everywhere can turn to our new ‘Summer Playbook’ as a go-to resource they can count on for play ideas,” said Anna Yudina, senior director of marketing initiatives at The Toy Association. “From printable coloring pages to fun family games, there is something for everyone.”

The Summer Playbook features eight fun-packed play ideas that encourage kids to get outside, explore their world, and be active, including Genius of Play favorites, like Action Figure Float, Wiggly Worm Farm, and Animal Moves. Each activity highlights the associated benefits of play and age-level and provides a list of simple household items families will need for setup. The playbook also includes ready-to-print coloring pages and activities kids can do on their own with little adult help – perfect for keeping kids occupied while parents are busy.

“We are excited to offer families this free resource while also elevating and highlighting the important developmental benefits of taking time to play every day,” said Yudina. “We encourage our friends throughout the toy and play industry to take advantage of this guide and share it with their own communities.”

Genius of Play Ambassadors and a group of online content creators will be promoting the Summer Playbook to their own professional and social networks.

The Summer Playbook is now available on The Genius of Play website in a digital book format for busy parents to easily access from any device.
