Toy Association Announces “Sustainability Spotlight”
January 24, 2022 | With an ever-growing number of toy companies committed to reducing their carbon footprint; using sustainable materials in packaging and products; participating in toy takeback programs; and/or educating kids about environmental issues, The Toy Association will be spotlighting those in the industry who are making efforts to go green.
“Our new ‘Sustainability Spotlight’ in Toy News Tuesday will feature companies that are tapping into sustainability initiatives and teaching kids how to be better global citizens,” said Adrienne Appell, executive vice president of marketing communications at The Toy Association. “We want to recognize and spread awareness about these important efforts, which are growing at a rapid pace and resonating with consumers across all industries, including toys.”
In a recent survey commissioned by The Toy Association, 78% of parents said the sustainability of a toy for their child was important to them.
“On top of being eco-friendly, companies that invest in sustainability will see the biggest payoff with consumers in the months and years ahead,” added Appell. “Families are gravitating to a range of products and companies that are prioritizing sustainability – from nature-themed toys and STEAM playthings that teach kids about renewable energies, to products made of sustainable materials and companies that are investing in reducing their overall carbon footprint.”
The Toy Association also plans to unveil new initiatives in 2022 that will help members learn more about how they can apply sustainable practices to their businesses; the biggest trends in sustainability and toys; and consumer attitudes about environmental issues.
Any company that would like to have its story featured in The Toy Association’s “Sustainability Spotlight” in Toy News Tuesday is encouraged to contact Jennifer Lynch. As always, preference for this opportunity will be given to Toy Association members.
