Toy Safety Awareness Month Kicks off November 1
October 24, 2022 | On Tuesday, November 1, The Toy Association will kick off its second annual Toy Safety Awareness Month, an industry-wide effort led by The Toy Association’s PlaySafe.org resource to ensure that play — both during the holidays and all year round – is fun and safe for kids of all ages.
“Each year leading up to the holidays, toys and toy safety receive considerable attention from consumers, government agencies, watchdog organizations, and the media,” said Adrienne Appell, executive vice president of marketing communications at The Toy Association. “Toy Safety Awareness Month enables us to lead the safety conversation by underscoring our members’ commitment to product safety, educating shoppers on the dangers of counterfeit toys, offering families tips on how to select appropriate toys for their children, and addressing media questions regarding the safety of toys.”
Manufacturers, retailers, and any other professional working in the business of play (as well as parents, caregivers, grandparents, and any gift giver) are encouraged to get involved. Participating in Toy Safety Awareness Month demonstrates a personal or company commitment to being an advocate for safe play.
Each week throughout November, The Toy Association will be highlighting a different aspect of toy safety and related assets. Be sure to follow the Association on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter and share the safety posts. Please use the official hashtag, #ToySafetyAwarenessMonth, as well as #PlaySafe in all posts.
The following assets are shareable on social media, in newsletters, on websites, etc., or can be printed out and displayed to consumers in-store:
These resources — and additional safety tips about batteries, magnets, age-appropriate toys, outdoor play, and much more — can be found at PlaySafe.org, the industry’s premier play safety resource for parents and caregivers.
