icti-ethical-toy-program-family-friendly-factoryMay 4, 2023 | The ICTI Ethical Toy Program (IETP) will expand its Family-Friendly Factory (FFF) program to Mexico and Vietnam, marking the first time the organization will implement the program outside of China.

The expansion — made possible by funding from The LEGO Group and Spin Master — is expected to support 30,000 children and families across China, Vietnam, and Mexico by 2025. Plans are currently underway to grow the FFF program into Vietnam this year and to Mexico in 2024, with an overall goal to support more locations in the future as the program develops.

A Family-Friendly Factory is a factory that has considered the needs of its workers and engaged with them to develop appropriate responses to those needs, including the development of new policies that offer parents benefits like flexible working or enhanced parental leave. It can also take the form of training and support for parents, helping them to develop new skills.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far and excited for the future of the Family-Friendly Factory program,” said Carmel Giblin, president & CEO of IETP. “The mission of the Ethical Toy Program is to help improve the lives of workers, their children, and their communities. We are achieving this through a ground-breaking commitment to worker well-being, by developing a supportive working environment that will benefit working parents and caretakers, both personally and professionally.”

The ICTI Ethical Toy Program (formerly ICTI CARE Process) is the ethical supply chain program for the global toy and entertainment industry. The Toy Association directly funded IETP at its founding and continues to support IETP’s work.
