The Toy Bank℠ is Collecting Product Donations to Support Summertime Play
May 15, 2023 | The Toy Foundation™ (TTF) is calling on the play community to donate toys, games, books, and more to The Toy Bank℠ so children in need can continue to learn and grow throughout the summer months.
TTF will pick up any donations received and deliver them to charities nationwide, such as Metro World Child in Brooklyn, NY, Feed the Children in Oklahoma City, OK, and World Vision Seattle in Fife, WA, to use in their summer programming. Any company that donates will receive a tax break and TTF will report back on the impact of the donation, ensuring that contributions of all sizes make a positive difference.
“We help children living in underserved communities and see first-hand the importance of play to help our kids learn, interact with others, and grow,” said Sara Ferrer from Metro World Child. “Especially in a city like New York, with so much happening, your toy donations add great value to the kids’ lives, and you see on their faces how special they feel to be able to call a toy their own.”
Particularly for low-income families, summer vacation becomes a struggle to meet basic needs, according to the National Summer Learning Association. Access to a variety of indoor and outdoor toys — from coding circuits to science lab kits and scavenger hunt games — help support children’s development all year long, which is especially important for younger kids who are at a crucial stage in their development and more prone to setbacks.
“Your donations will help reduce our kids’ screen time, encourage outdoor play, and spark their imaginations to support their overall growth and development during the summer break,” Ferrer continued.
