FMC Hearing to Examine Impact of Red Sea Conflict on Supply Chain

January 23, 2024 | Houthi rebel attacks in the Red Sea are disrupting the flow of cargo in the region and threatening maritime commerce worldwide. The Toy Association™’s Global Government & Regulatory Affairs team is engaged on the issue and is alerting toy and game manufacturers that the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) will hold an upcoming public hearing on the conflict.

Taking place February 7 at 10 a.m. (Eastern), the informal FMC hearing will examine how conditions in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions are impacting commercial shipping and global supply chains. Stakeholders will be invited to share how their operations have been disrupted as well as the steps they have taken in response to these events. The Commission will also use the hearing to identify any new issues related to the disruptions.

This hearing will be open for public attendance and will also be streamed live on the Commission’s homepage. More information about accessing the livestream will be posted on the Commission’s webpage at www.fmc.gov.
