Joan Lawrence, The Toy Association’s Toy Safety Mom and senior vice president of standards and regulatory affairs, joined Salt Lake City’s The Place, Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend, and Phoenix’s Sonoran Living to give families key advice to ensure kids have a fun and safe summer. The segments were also syndicated nationally by Yahoo and MSN, resulting in millions of additional views.

Lawrence shared tips for storing water toys when they’re not in use; making sure kids are wearing protective gear when playing with all ride-on toys; the importance of following age labels on outdoor toys as well as indoor toys, and more. She featured examples of safe products from toy companies, including Crayola, Skyrocket Toys, Razor, Hape, and Step2.

The Toy Association spreads awareness about toy and play safety year-round. Each spring, the Association publishes a shareable infographic to remind families how to stay safe during the summer months. The toy community is encouraged to share the latest warm weather safety infographic, which includes information on shopping safely online and avoiding counterfeits; underscores the importance of following the age grading on a toy; and includes tips for ride-on safety, proper toy storage, and more.
