Toy Association Rallies for Stronger Anti-Counterfeit Legislation at 'Canceling Counterfeits' Event

The event brought together government officials, leaders from various consumer products industries, and members of the public to highlight that not only do fake products pose serious risks to consumers, but they are all against the law. Owen Caine, vice president of government affairs at The Toy Association, engaged with government officials and attendees to emphasize the urgent need for legislation like the SHOP SAFE Act, highlighting how counterfeit products not only threaten consumer safety but also undermine legitimate businesses.

“Counterfeit products don’t just harm individual industries — they jeopardize consumer trust and safety across the board,” Caine said. “To make real progress, we need a unified voice across industries calling for Congress to pass the SHOP SAFE Act. Standing together on this issue strengthens our collective message to lawmakers: consumer protection is non-negotiable.”

The Toy Association has been a vocal advocate against counterfeits and continues to work to educate the public on the dangers of fake toys, spread awareness to other industries, and meet with government officials to convey the critical importance of legislation for consumer protection.
