Be Part of the First-Ever ‘Wishlist Weekend’ at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair

April 17, 2025 | This year’s Chicago Toy & Game Fair (CHITAG) will take place November 8 to 9 in Rosemont, IL, during the first-ever People of Play “Wishlist Weekend” — a new celebration designed to kick off the holiday shopping season with discovery and hands-on fun.

“As North America’s largest consumer toy and game event, CHITAG offers one of the most impactful engagement opportunities of the year. While many in the toy industry are navigating an uncertain landscape, The Toy Association™ continues to vigorously advocate to keep toys tariff-free and support companies through this moment. We want to make sure companies have the information they need to think ahead — so when the time is right, they are ready to act,” said Kimberly Carcone, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association.

Hosted by People of Play™, a division of The Toy Association, CHITAG is perfectly timed with the start of the holiday shopping season. Wishlist Weekend encourages kids and families to explore the latest toys and games firsthand — and start building their wish lists in real time. From playtesting to product demos to surprise giveaways, the two-day event creates an immersive, hands-on environment where companies can connect directly with the people their products are made for.

“Families are looking for memorable experiences,” said Mary Couzin, senior vice president and founder/leader of People of Play at The Toy Association. “Wishlist Weekend is a powerful way for brands to engage directly with their audience and create lasting impressions ahead of the holidays.”

Beyond in-person engagement, CHITAG offers brands a chance to be part of widespread media coverage. Last year’s event generated more than 1.52 billion media impressions, with major outlets like Newsweek, Forbes, and the Chicago Tribune covering the event, alongside broadcast affiliates (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and WGN) and influential toy reviewers and social media creators.

CHITAG draws thousands of attendees each year, including families, educators, inventors, and international media. Participating brands not only get to showcase their products but also have the opportunity to sell them on-site — offering a direct line to holiday shoppers and a boost in seasonal sales.

“Wishlist Weekend is all about the magic of discovery,” Carcone continued. “It’s a moment where kids can fall in love with something new, and parents can see what sparks joy — all while brands gain valuable insights and visibility in a festive, consumer-focused setting.”
