The Toy Foundation™ Brought Play to 3 Million Children in 2024

toy foundation toy bank eventJanuary 7, 2025 | In 2024, the toy industry’s passion to support children in need shined as companies of all sizes united behind The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) Toy Bank program. In total, more than $35 million of product was collected to impact nearly 3 million children, a 468% increase in children supported compared to 2023. See the full list of 2024 donors here.

“Together as an industry, we are harnessing the power of play for good,” said Pam Mastrota, executive director of The Toy Foundation. “We are deeply appreciative of every donor and donation, because just one toy can make a world of difference for a child who is struggling.”

The donations collected included:

  • 3 million toys picked up directly from the donating companies’ facilities;
  • 80,000 toys collected in celebration of International Day of Play; and
  • 5,300 toys collected at industry trade shows, including People of Play’s Chicago Toy & Game Fair, The Toy Association’s LA Fall Preview, and The Toy Insider’s media events.

The toys were distributed year-round to 1,500 non-profits, schools, and children’s hospitals nationwide and around the globe, including Boys & Girls Clubs, Dream Center, Hope for Henry, Los Angeles Mission, and New York City public school systems, among others.

In addition to year-round distribution efforts, tens of thousands of toys were distributed in immediate response to natural disasters, and in the months following, to provide comfort to families during recovery. This includes rapid response to the wildfires in Maui and the Texas Panhandle, the Midwest tornado outbreak, and Southeastern hurricanes Helene and Milton.

“In difficult times, something as simple as a new toy can spark joy and hope in a child’s life. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of The Toy Foundation and its partners,” said Crystal Hultquist, gifts in-kind director of Dream Center, which received the toys collected at the close of the LA Fall Preview.

In 2025, TTF is calling on the industry to start, continue, or expand their product donations through The Toy Bank to grow its collective impact by completing a donation form here. TTF picks up and distributes product donations year-round. The next trade show toy collection will take place at Toy Fair in New York City; all exhibitors are invited to donate their product at the close of the show. More information is forthcoming.
