The Toy Foundation's (TTF) Toy Chest program is an industry-wide service that helps companies reach their business and philanthropic goals through product donations. In this third and final article of a three-part series (read Part I here and Part II here), learn how Ravensburger North America, one of the world’s leading game and puzzle makers, partners with TTF’s Toy Chest to create meaningful impact for children in need and reinforce the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
For Ravensburger North America, philanthropy is woven into the company’s core values. Recognizing that the joy, connection, and creativity sparked through quality play should expand far beyond the retail shelf, the company partners with Toy Chest to help bring puzzles, games, and other toys to children in need worldwide.
“Giving back is an intentional part of how Ravensburger North America operates as a company,” said Stephane Madi, CEO and managing director of Ravensburger North America. “We believe there is real value in creating positive impact for the communities we serve while engaging our employees, partners, and customers.”
According to Madi, Toy Chest has become a “connective thread” between Ravensburger North America’s day-to-day business operations and philanthropic priorities. On the operations side, Toy Chest has helped streamline excess inventory and product lifecycle management, which, in turn, has helped address financial obligations such as royalty guarantees, unlock potential tax benefits, and reduce costs tied to warehousing.
Madi continued, “Toy Chest enables us to donate more products, extend our reach, reduce operational issues, and work closely with a wider range of partners.”
Toy Chest is a centralized hub that provides companies the structure, logistics, and operational support needed to manage product donations efficiently and thoughtfully at scale. Its network of nonprofit partners encompasses community organizations, schools, and children’s hospitals around the world that are thoroughly vetted to ensure every product donation is distributed for maximum impact.
Madi shared that some of the most valuable benefits of the Toy Chest don’t appear on a balance sheet. The program has helped humanize the business and gives Ravensburger employees an opportunity to connect the work they do to a bigger purpose. Giving back has positively affected company culture, strengthened employee engagement, and reminded employees of the company’s mission to bring meaningful play to children around the world.
"The Toy Foundation is grateful for Ravensburger's partnership and their thoughtful approach to giving," said Pam Mastrota, executive director of The Toy Foundation. "Its commitment is a model for what's possible when companies view philanthropy not as a separate endeavor, but as part of how they do business. We invite every company in our industry to join us."
As TTF wraps up its month-long celebration of the United Nations International Day of Play, held annually on June 11, it’s a timely moment for the toy industry to step up and donate product to the Toy Chest (submit a donation form). Whether a company is looking to manage excess inventory, unlock tax benefits, or connect employees to a philanthropic initiative, the Toy Chest is an easy and efficient partner to achieve business and philanthropic goals.
