The Toy Association™ is reminding companies of several imminent reporting deadlines and an upcoming workshop at the state level. Below is a state-by-state roundup to help members stay informed and compliant in the months ahead.
California
Virtual Microplastics Public Workshop: December 11, 2025 (9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. (Pacific))
The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has released its “Microplastics in Consumer Products Research” background document for public comment, summarizing early scientific evaluations that may inform future actions to protect public health and the environment. The workshop will review preliminary findings, take questions, and provide an additional forum for public input. Click here to register.
Washington
Packaging EPR Producer Registration Due: December 15, 2025
Producers covered under Washington’s new packaging EPR law must register with the state and formally appoint a Producer Responsibility Organization. Registration can be completed via the “State Registration” section of the Producer Portal.
Reporting Due: January 31, 2026
Washington’s Safer Products Restrictions and Reporting Rule, which implemented the state’s Safer Products for Washington program, requires manufacturers to report priority consumer products containing designated priority chemicals. The rule applies to products sold, distributed, or offered for sale in the state, including direct-to-consumer online shipments. Reports must be filed through IC2’s High Priority Chemicals Data System (HPCDS).
Oregon
Reporting Due: January 31, 2026
Under Oregon’s newly expanded requirements, manufacturers must report high priority chemicals of concern to children’s health (HPCCCHs) by brand name and product model (BNPM). Reporting applies to chemicals at or above de minimis levels in products sold in 2024 or 2025 and must be submitted through the HPCDS system.
Vermont
Reporting Due: January 31, 2026
Manufacturers must report children’s products containing any of Vermont’s 89 Chemicals of High Concern to Children (CHCC), now submitted through the updated HPCDS system.
